How very exciting to pick up the mail today and open up the newest issue of McCalls Quilting to see my Butterfly quilt...
And I'm so excited I'm gonna give away some 30's fabrics....maybe you'll find some butterflies flying around your house!
so leave me a little comment on this post and next friday I'll have one of the kids pick from the hat, or pot, or basket.....whatever we can find around this mess!

Here's a day for you......
My first paycheck from the new job arrived in the mail, a day early!
Also in the mail, the new issue of McCalls Quilting......and I'm in it!!!
you can't miss my project....circles, ricrac.....you'll know it when you see it!
And the trifecta of good fortune?? my manicure has held for 4 days!
And all on the Chinese New Year....let's hope that's a good sign for the year ahead. Sister Mary Awful tells me it's the Year of the Ox, or maybe it's the Bull....or maybe she's just full of it....(sorry, I couldn't help myself).
Happy New Year to you, hope your Chinese year is starting out as good as mine!

really the title of this post should be "do what I say, not what I do"
cause we picked up the mail on Saturday on our way out to the movies and my DH said "bills, bills, junk, quilting magazine, catalog...."
wait! go, back..... look in there and see if I have anything in that issue.
and out of the corner of my eye, I Spy a quilt of mine.
So I grab the magazine and flip to the page and look at the article, read the little blurb, where apparantly I mentioned my children and their dirty socks....all while driving.
only to have a driving age person in the car say "do you want to pull over and let me drive"?
you know, I am perfectly capable of multi-tasking, have they not seen me put on makeup while driving to a wedding while listening to the GPS tell me where to go??
So we make it safely to the movies and I even get a few minutes before the movies while they are getting about $75 worth of candy and popcorn to look at the other quilts. I spy another beauty by a fellow guild member Susan McDermott!
So a day out with my boys and a new issue of McCalls....now that's a treat.
But do not read and drive, for the sake of everyone on the road and to save yourself the abuse of other driving age people in the family.

I had a breakfast get-together this morning and then some running around in town and then got home with an hour to spare before the invasion of the men of the house. mmmmm, what can I get done in an hour of peace? I know, I'll "restore my natural haircolor" before they get home. So I put the goop in the my hair and now I have to wait 25 minutes. mmm, what can I get done in 25 minutes, nothing in the sewing department onaccounta drips would be hazardous. So I sit at the computer.
I take a look at emails and then typepad. I notice I'm getting some hits from my friends at McCalls.
Following the trail and I get here
and then I end up on this page
Look! It's my basket quilt. I knew it was coming out in the August issue, I just didn't know that the August issue was out already. And then I had to look at the other beauties in the same issue. Love Beth's quilt and all the rest.
Well, you know, we've all burned cookies because we weren't watching the time.....need I say more? let's just say I'm a few shades darker than my "natural color"....we'll just call the color "YIKES".
New rule: set a timer when "restoring natural color" and for now there's a temporary ban on multitasking.

A while back I bought an antique quilt from a very reputable dealer, but she did not have any info other than it came from an estate in PA. I just loved it for it's color, it's condition and for the design. I would love to give credit to a person for this quilt, but she did not label it (I feel a little "you must label your quilts" soapbox coming on).
But this was the inspiration for the quilt that appears in the McCalls special publication America Loves Scraps 2 out on newstands now.
all the fabrics in my quilt are from the La Belle Rose collection from LakeHouse.
Hope you find this issue around, it's got some great projects in it.
