I don't know about you, but I get these pictures in my mind of what a quilt will look like when I have all the fabrics picked out. In theory, I'm thinking if I like the pile then almost anything I do with it will be good.
Uh, not so much!
I started with this pile:
I thought....mmm... X blocks, solid blocks, that could work...not so much
So I tried something that I thought would highlight the flower blocks....not so much
A long time ago I took a class on picking fabric. The class was held at a time when the quilt shop was closed. We did exercises with picking out fabrics for a quilt, you had 10 minutes to pick your fabrics, and the class critiqued your selections....what worked, what didn't.
And I remember the instructor told us that sometimes you just don't feel it, and its best to walk away, come back another day to buy fabrics....don't force it.
So this weekend, I took that advice, I walked away from the fabric that was not working for me, the flower blocks. I'll use them another time, but not now.
And with that, I headed in a new direction
Three more rows and this will be done! And then I think some big stitch quilting.
So much better, don't you think?
Hugs and Stitches!
