Have we met?

I had a plan for summery scrap quilt.  The plan was to use up the box of pastel-ish scraps to make a new quilt for my bed.  The only part I actual figured out was how many blocks I need, no specific yardage requirements....I'm winging it.

So I cut and I sewed using this book as a guide

and here's some of the progress...

so now the dilemma...I cut all my scraps, I've pieced about 200 of the 350ish blocks I need and I'm realizing I'm short on scraps in this color range.

Oh tartar sauce, now I have to buy more fabric for my scrap quilt!

The first of the "let's pretend I had enough scraps" packages came yesterday.

to which Twin # 2 says "uh, don't you have enough fabric already?"

Sampler Underway

Well you know I can't be without an applique project underway....so this one has started:

there's some applique and some English paper piecing.  So I started with the big blocks...

  

and now I'm working on some paper piecing blocks.  and O.M.G.  if I had known about Sue Daley's gluing method I would have done more of this kind of piecing, or maybe a little hexie quilt .  

But goodness, I have a fear on losing things....so as soon as I figured out that I like this method, I went online and bought an extra sewline glue pen and more refills.  I have a feeling I will be using a bit of this, as I have only 6 of 70 some block done.

And Sister Mary Kraft (formerly Cadbury) tells tale that this glue pen is handy for those who are garmently challenged and need a quick hem fixed on the way to work.  Oh darn, I should have ordered two.

A few good words

My Twin#1 doesn't say much, he never has, but especially now that we have entered the grunting years.  But when he does speak, he chooses his words wisely, and often there's a certain level of teenage profounditude.

So the other night after music lessons, we went for ice cream.  (My musicians have the good fortune of having lessons two doors down from the BEST soft serve in the county!)  We sat in the car for a few minutes while they ate their cones.  The car was running, no one was talking, everyone enjoying their ice cream, when he reaches for the radio and turns it on saying only "deliciousness deserves music".

There you have it.

Today I got some wonderful new books to inspire.  With a trip to Norway just a few weeks off for DH and Son#1 we've been feeling the Scandinavian spirit in our house....so why not a quilt book to go along with the feeling?

And another one that traveled quite a way to get here...

I might have to make this one...

Both of these books are BEAUTIES!!  But if you get then you'll need to turn on the tunes, because this deliciousness deserves music.
