Can you feel it?

OMG, I'm so far behind, so much going on....it's getting to be that time of year, right?  Quilt Shows, travels, end of school year stuff, etc, too much for my little brain!

But I've been kinding of stewing and brewing about what applique project to take on next....there's so many BEAUTIFUL quilts I'd like to make!  But I saw a one that stuck in my head and I search around for the pattern for a while (I didn't want the Block of the Month that a bunch of places offered).

well I found the pattern and it was in Australia....you know how that goes, with the exchange rate and shipping, that will be a million dollars, right?  Well never fear, the internet is here!!!  I searched and searched, and my effort was rewarded! I found a shop in Texas that carried the pattern.  In TEXAS!!! 

It's Sue Daley's Antique Sampler, it's applique - which I love --and English Paper Piecing - which I have come to enjoy as well, since a recent excursion into the Paper ladies booth at Lancaster.

So Happy Birthday to me!  I ordered the pattern, and yesterday it came and tied up in a pretty pink ribbon, just for me!!!!

and this is no ordinary pattern, it comes with a whole bunch of templates and papers for English Paper Piecing.

oh by gosh by golly, I'm excited to be starting this new project!!!

Road Trip Tablerunner

Sometimes I think I might have a little faulty wiring.  

Whenever we have a vacation planned, there are a couple of essential components to the planning process for me:  look up any quilt shops or shows that are nearby or on the route, and figure out the project that I'll be working on during the trip.

Really?  

why can't I just vacation without taking along a project?

Here's the answer:

I'm a quilter, we are not wired that way.  To those who might be in the train, plane or automobile with me:  get over it.

So we have a little roadtrip coming up, and I naturally needed a little project.  Goodness, I'm inconvienently between appliques, so I better come up with something.

So the last two nights, I've stayed up late and prepped this:

 
It's nice to be able to pull so easily from the stash for a little project.  This one is from Kim Diehl's book:  Simple Graces.  This is one of those yummy "love to make everything in it" books.  So if you don't have it....git it!

Oh, now that I have this squared away, maybe I should make hotel reservations...

Apple-icous

See this is how it goes....

You jump in the car with 2 of The Sisters, heading down to Lancaster.  You wander round the show seeing all sorts of wonderful things to buy.  You find yourself in the Paper Pieces booth.  When you stand there for a minute you think....these ladies are nuts!  1/4" hexagons? really?  But then they are so nice and the insanity is a little infectious.

But Sister Mary Made me Buy It had to stay home, so I'm safe, right?

Oh no, Sister Mary Vera, Patron Saint of Quilted Bags, is today playing the part of purchase encourager.  So we dive in...we buy all sorts of papers. Because the Paper Pieces ladies said we should, we could, we'll love it!

And now, the 2" Apple Cores are starting to appear...

How big will this quilt be?  Oh, not big.  But it's nice to have a little hand project to work on, to carry along, while I am in between applique projects.

So thank you Sister Mary Vera, I guess....
