Well, it happened. I had that big birthday, That ends with a zero. Honestly, it was hard, for a while. But eventually, I came to realize and understand that age is a state of mind. Nothing about a number says you have to act like a grown up!
My DH was extra specially nice and sprang for a beautiful string of pearls. Nothing says I love you like a wooden box lined with velvet, no matter what's in it! I'm trying to think of myself as more Jackie O and less Julia Child in the pearls.
The friends at work had a party for me, what a surprise! They were nice enough to give me a gift, which I passed on the Second Harvest Food Bank---there's alot of hungry people who need to be fed, I figured it was only right for me to pay it forward.
And of course, Sister Mary Awful came thru with the traditional Birthday Blasphemy:
Well, at least when I burn in hell, I'll have company!
Also in the birthday goody bag was a new book from the masterful Jean Biddick
Jean does the most amazing, intricate piecing, and her quilts are award winning. And Sister Mary Awful has a quilt in the gallery section of the book---check it out!!
Actually looking back, it's didn't really take that long to quilt given the limited time I have for it these days. But I did enjoy the big stitch quilting. I didn't use a hoop which somehow made the quilting easier for me...I guess it allowed me to do really long runs without having to move a hoop, so one less step.
but the indispensable tool on this project was the embroidery threader. I didn't even know that they existed two months ago, and now I have two (cause I know I'll lose one and feel uncalledfor panic without it).
So on to the next quilt top....I think I'll exercise the machine for this one!
Hugs and Stitches!
P.S. Stay tuned....I feel a giveaway coming on....
I guess the fever has struck me, that Spring Fever, and I'm working hard at cleaning out those old projects before I start something new. It's really a test of wills, between the New Project Fairy on my right and the Ghost of Projects Past on my left.
This weekend, I quilted up a little top that has been hanging around for YEARS! really I can't explain why it's not been quilted. But it is now!
And my Alien Tulips is finished quilted too, I had to order a little Kaffe for the binding, so pictures of that to follow soon.
So some progress....let's see how long this resolve lasts.....probably about as long as swearing off caffeine (about as long as it took to drive past the first Starbucks)
