we'll see how this works

normally I feel like it's my responsibility as a mother to embarrass my children at regular intervals.....luckily for me, I don't usually have to work very hard at it.  But the other day one of them asked me in his kind, compassionate, "practicing to be a teenager" tone if I could please "maybe clean some of the threads off my clothes before coming to pick them up from the bus".  Well, I guess it's not too much to ask, and it's certainly not the first time this request has come from a member of the household.

So, two 1/2 yards of fabric and little bit of ric-rac later I had myself a little studio apron----a project long overdue.
Apron
the little rounded pocket came from the cut-away for the bib section and reminds me of my grandmothers aprons for some reason----she always had a tissue, now I have a place for my tissue.  And look, little Miss Sparkles makes an appearance too!

this will definitely not be the last apron, but a quick and easy and hopefully I'll get in the habit of wearing it.  Then I can find new ways to embarrass the kids!

Hugs and Stitches!

New way to embarrass the kids? That's easy! Wear the new apron, covered with threads of course, to the bus stop!

Or wear the apron and have the threads hanging from your hair!

That is the perfect solution...my husband is constantly picking threads off of me before we go anywhere. That would solve the problem.

I love this apron! Of course, I love all aprons but this one is perfect for the sewing room. And I never would have thought for that little pocket out of the cut-away part. I have terrible allergies and always have tissue in every pocket. If you want to really embarrass your kids just stand outside your car and blow kisses at them as they get off the bus. Works every time. :) Blessings, marlene

So funny. My kids do that to me too. We'll be in a store or somewhere and they will look at me and get this stunned face and motion for me to get the thread off my tshirt or something. I love sewing in an apron. I wish I could wear an apron to work somedays. Pockets and it protects clothes - what could be better. Love them. Your studio apron is darling.

Threads, cat hair ..... I wear it all!!! ... oh, and being a veteran of embarrasing my 2 boys at every possible opportunity (ages newly graduated 18 year old and a 15 1/2 year old), here's my favorite .... my Bus Stop Outfit .... which is anything I can throw on at 6:45 AM ... including but not limited to my jammies, my husband's clodhopper boots, my bright yellow rain slicker with the hood up in hopes of looking better than my uncombed hair .... and in this outfit you should proceed to not just drop your kid off at the bus stop, but WALK HIM TO THE BUS and then say loudly "Now give Mommy a kiss!" .... this is so GREAT (that is until they're old enough to drive to school and pretend not to know you!)

Ah yes, that is our job indeed. I have my kids convinced that I stay awake at night just thinking up new ways to embarrass them. And apparently I'm quite good at it. However, the only person in the family that's better at it than me is their dad. Of course he doesn't really try, it just comes naturally. And what can I say, I picked him after all!

Megan, hope your summer is going great. Give me a call when you have a chance!

great idea- the apron......i too have been wanting to cover my sewing chair.....which is office furniture black...yours is really cute!!!
