What a Fine Mess....

Seems like the Spring Cleaning bug has bitten.....or maybe it's just that the piles of piles are taking over.  We all have our own way of organizing our mess, I guess.  Mine is to make piles.  I pile papers, I pile books, I pile laundry, I pile fabric.  Sure it may look orderly for a while, but then try to find something....and that's where I am now.

See I started with a neat pile of Civil War fabrics to do my weekly blocks, but now it's a mess....

I think there might even be a basket under there somewhere!

But I'm way behind on the blocks, so I'm thinking, maybe I should just peacefully co-exist with the pile while I get caught up, but the cleaning bug is whispering that the blocks would go faster if I clean first.  I need to develop a better plan for mess management that does not involve Rubbermaid containers or Large Ziploc bags....come on, admit it, I'm not the only one who has resorted to throwing a pile of fabric into a large container to be dealt with later.

Thankfully, I have the Lollipops to work on so I don't have to deal with that mess.   I have managed to get one block finished this week while I work on some secret projects.  It's starting to look like something, isn't it?

A little birdy tells me she has great plans to prep a few blocks, yikes, what kind of mess will that make??

Hugs and Stitches!

You finished Block#2? Good for you - they look great- Hopefully mine will surface within a month or so. I'm hoping if you prep a few more - you'll give us a sneak peek!

Wow they look great next to each other ...I sure hope I don't regret not making this quilt with you guys!
Oh I love the pile of fabric...I say leave the pile till you work on the blocks again.

LOVELY blocks! I really should actually sew the block that's been prepared since October. I hate it when the walls start to grown in on me when all of my piles decide to attack.

In our family we all have "pile-it" licenses! Don't mess with my piles. Love the lollipops.

Megan, your Lollypop looks great. It really does look nice together with the other one. You might as well just keep the mess! These sampler style quilts with multiple fabrics really do make a mess. I was complaining about that the other day.

I have piles too... piles of stuffs that is.. I have resorted to sorting into baskets to sort later, but alas that never happens..
I try to refold fabric as I go, otherwise I'll have to press it again, and I dont want to do that!!! LOL

take care

That's what I love about this blog -- you even make a mess look good. I also LUV those lollipops!

In Australia, the bush turkeys that roam the suburbs make large mounds to bury their eggs in - they diligently work at making that mound bigger and bigger each day, stealing from your garden to do so - they drive people crazy! I don't know whether I have spent too long competing with them in the garden, or perhaps I have descended from bush turkeys - but piles - is there any other way to live? At least you put your pile into a container - we couldn't sit in the dining room last week beause there were piles on every chair! :-) warm regards, Lily

It's okay you will get through the mess. But boy do I adore your Lollipop blocks. Fantastic!! I can't wait to see more!

I am so glad I am not alone in the pile making world. I always say, I may be cluttered, but I know exactly where everything is, until I don't of course. I have so far kept my Baby Jane fabric organized, but I only have a tiny bit. I cant imagine what will happen when I add yardage to the group. Those lollipop blocks are something else. You are doing a very nice job with them. Love Stacy

My Civil War fabric looks very similar but I am going to resist fold it all up because the last time I did that, I didn't make another block for 10 days.

Piles are our way of life. The piles grow until they tip over then divide. This is why there are no usable flat surfaces in our house.

You want to come visit my piles...fabrics to be washed, fabrics to be re-folded, magazines to read, books to mark and read later...They get larger and larger! But it's a cool looking bunch of fabrics!

Okay, I am so in love with these fun blocks. They are so cute and spicey!

We have many piles in my house as well -- I keep telling DH that I know where everything is .... he believed that until I turned the house upside down last weekend looking for a form the accountant needed ... oh well at least I am in great company :)

Hello Megan, I love your lollipop blocks. I am wondering where you got the pattern? and the colourful fabrics? is it a kit or are they from your own stash? Best wishes Heather

What a lovely mess:-)
