A bit of Goldilocks
I've been feeling a little Goldilock-ish in my sewing area.
I recently decided that I do alot more sewing than dining, so bits and pieces of quilting equipment, furniture, fabric, etc. migrated to the dining room and the dining room table moved to the back end of my "bowling alley living room".
I have the newest Bernina, the latest rulers and other assorted gadgets, but my sewing table was not quite right.
At first, I used an old kitchen table, but alas, this was too small for machine quilting. Then my father gave me his gi-normous office table/desk when they moved to their new digs. But this was just too high for me. For all the things my parents have given me, height is not one of them.
And so, Dad to the rescue!!! He had built me a custom-made, shorter than normal, whiz-bang table for my machine! He came over and took all sorts of measurements, we talked about what was I looking for in a table, how would it be used, where would it be in the room, and on and on......it felt a little like match.com for tables.
But all the questions, the measuring, the double checking, was totally worth it! I got a table that fits me just right. And it has a leaf that folds up to make the table bigger for machine quilting, and I can have 2 machines at either end when I have people over for private lessons.
I could not love my table more....or the person who made it!
This room is a work in progress, kind of like my life, but stayed tuned, I'll show more when I get further along.
Hugs and Stitches!
Megan

What a beautiful table and what a lucky girl you are! I can totally relate to the migration of sewing items to the dining room -- a sewing room is much better use of the space :)

Isn't it wonderful to have men in your life who can make sewing easier!! My DH built me a table when I 'took over' the dining area as a sewing room. Enjoy your new workspace :)
