Tumbling....

No, not gymnastics....tumbler blocks!Triangle

I went to a little "cutting party" the other day, really it was excuse to spend time with our wayward friend Lorre, visiting from across the pond. We cut tumblers for me and triangles for them.....I'm a project behind them, they already did tumblers and are now onto Triangles...

Love these templates, Kathie tells me I'm supposed to take the paper off the outside of them so you can see what your cutting.  DUH!  what was I thinking.

It  reminded me of a kooky college friend who tells the stories of early days of marriage and trying to find her way around the kitchen.  Apparently , when the package of frozen vegetables say to put "entire box of peas into boiling water", she did just that!

Bagotumblers
So anywho.....dear Patty brought a bag of leftover tumblers (what did we do before Ziploc bags???)

And, oh goodness, when I emptied out, there must be hundreds!
Tumblers

Thanks for the tumblers Patty!  ...and thanks for hosting the cutting party Kathie!

It's so nice to spend time solving world problems (or at least how to handle those pesky children of ours) over a cup of coffee and a pile of fabric.

Now I suppose you will expect to see a finished tumbler quilt?

Hugs and Stitches!

Megan

and you should see how many we mailed to Lucy too!
then from the scraps from the end of the tumblers you cut, I cut mini tumblers (about an inch height and 1/2inch width ) and made a doll quilt this week...wait to you see it!
That was fun, what better way to spend with some friends , talking...cutting up fabric and drinking coffee????
ok so did you piece the quilt together yet?
Kathie

Love reading your blog... I myself just got a "tumbler" template as a way of using up left over fabrics. Once a quilt is done, I use up the left overs by cutting some "tumblers" some "dresden plate pieces" and a few other "shapes", put them into boxes of their own and in my spare time sew them together. They make great spur of the moment gifts and the rest go to various charities ~ a great way to keep the clutter down.

A cutting party -- what a fun idea! You were probably thinking if you left the paper on the template it would keep it from getting scratched, LOL. And of course, we want to see a tumbling blocks quilt! ;-)

Hi Megan,

I just post a picture of the tumblers I received :-) . I link also to your blog. They are lovely hè. did you sew them already together. I have to cut a bit more from my fabrics and then I can start sewing!!
