I'm Stuck!
I was not entirely successful, this weekend, at convincing some younger members of the household that Saturday was the National Day of Cleaning. So with a very small twist of the arm, I gave up on having clutter-free bedrooms and headed back to the sewing machine.
I put together some blocks for a BOM, by the lovely ladies at The Quilt Company, that I am teaching at the LQS, and now I'm stuck. See, I added the sashing and it just doesn't seem right to me....maybe too wide, maybe too dark, something is not right and I hate to sew anymore til I figure this out.
I'd love to hear what you think....
Hugs and Stitches!

I think the sashing is perfect. You just need some sort of border that ties it all together. Maybe a wide stripe that heads to the corners like roads...I like to conceptualize when I am stuck and get some sort of imaginary theme to work it out. Anyway, I think it's working for sure. kathy (material obsession) and since we have a full moon eclipse happening right now maybe you should have some suns and moons moving through the corners as the day passes...

I like the sashing as well. but you could try a homespun plaid if you're really bothered by it.

I also like the sashing. Will this continue to be a quilt on the diagonal? Or will it be "squared up" -- aka, put bit triangles in the corners, perhaps with more applique or piecing?

I hate to be the one dissenting voice here...*S*...but that's not gonna stop me. The sashing looks kinda dreary to me. It needs more PUNCH....
Maybe a primitive print with some of that blue in the center block? I know I'd be auditioning some other fabrics if I were doing this. You DID ask....*L*

My comments are a bit astray from the others. The sashing seems fine, although I might have used cornerstones in a richer color, but that's not what strikes my eye. It's the placement of the darker and lighter "grass areas" at the bottom of the blocks that leads my eye astray. Are these the only house blocks, or is this part of a larger layout? If only these blocks, I'd prefer to see the three dark grass areas across the center and the lightest one (background fabric) at the top and the light green at the bottom. YOU DID ASK. And a thin red border matching the flower centers, plus a folksy outer border, plaid or floral, would add that extra bit of punch.
