The Start of Something New....
This is where you would find me today, on the eve of my first blog. Isn't it heaven to just be able to spend the afternoon watching the kids in the pool in a comfortable chair preferably with a nice glass of wine....but then who would make dinner?
I am excited and a little anxious to share my little piece of the world with you.
In addition to being assistant "chief cook and bottle washer" at LakeHouse Dry Goods, I am a quilter, a quilt teacher, a cub scout den leader, president of the local quilt guild, a mom and a wife.
My life is somewhere between "Oh The Places You'll Go" and "Leave it to Beaver".
I just plain love quilting, the fabric, the process and all the wonderful people I meet along the way. I'm lucky enough to be able to be gainfully employed in an industry I love. If you call LakeHouse, you are probably speaking to me. I get to take your "where can I get your fabric" questions and talk to some really interesting shop owners and customers. If you can't get me, I'm probably on the phone with Holly working on our next crazy idea or we're out at some eatery for a meeting, 'cause if you've read her blog, you all know..."it's all about the food".
I love to start a new project...I often work on my own designs, sometimes I make a Holly quilt, sometimes I look to the many talented ladies who have published books and patterns. There's always a quilt in progress....and usually it's using LakeHouse somewhere in the quilt, if not everywhere.
One such quilt is used in my banner and comes from Alma Allan and Barb Adams book Home Sweet Home
These are only 4 of the 9 house blocks in the book and this quilt is made entirely from LakeHouse fabric (surprised??) This was quilted by my friend Lorre in Brussels (thank goodness for large luggage) and hangs in my living room. There are other wonderful projects in this book, so add this one to your library.
More projects and stories from the land of LakeHouse will come in future posts, so stayed tuned!
Hugs and Stitches!
Megan

Congrats on your first post Megan!

Hi Megan! How fun that you are now an official blogger. . . what a wonderful "club' this is. I'm so happy to get a peek into your world & your perpective of this wonderful, crazy, challenging & fun industry - I will be checking often (read: daily). . . (no pressure.) :-)
I love Barb & Alma too. . . always have & since I hardly have time to make my own designs. . . let's say I'm an avid collector of their books. . . But I love their design in LakeHouse fabrics. . . so fresh!
Have a wonderful time blogging. . . & I'm sure I will be talking to you soon!

Hi Megan! Wow! I am so excited about your blog! I knew you were a busy lady, but reading about all of the things you are involved with just confirms that! I have to agree with a couple of other comments here when they said how much you were missed at market. You are always so sweet and always smiling, never complaining. I am SO looking forward to getting to know you better through your blog. Great Job!

Megan,
How fun! Believe it or not, I'm pretty wet behind the ears -- this is my very first blog posting ever! :) Thanks for inviting me to join in. Julie keeps saying that we need to do a blog, but I think I'll just get my feet wet for a bit first and enjoy yours. I agree -- we imagine ourselves relaxing with a glass of wine -- and thank goodness for vivid imaginations, because we are really too busy to sit and relax for long! I also love what you've done with Barb & Alma's designs -- they are so cool in the Lakehouse Fabrics! ---Teresa

Hi Megan,
Our mutual friend Kathie from New Jersey asked me to visit your blog a few weeks ago. I immediately subscribed to it via bloglines, read a couple posts, and then it went by the wayside just like all the rest of the blogs I read have done lately. I'm now over 3500 posts behind because I've been sewing and revamping my sewing room instead of reading.
I'm happy to report that I'm finally getting some blog reading time in, and even better yet - your blog is one of the few that isn't blocked by our new firewall at work. So I'm starting at the beginning at your very first post and working my way forward. Really looking forward to getting to "know" you. Any friend of Kathie's will definitely be a quilter with which I have many things in common!
